OBLIQUITY (Why our goals are achieved best indirectly)

Good evening!

Below i want to write my opinion about the book that we consulted yesterday.

Just the word "Oblique" tells us something important, which is;
"There exist different ways to achieve goals or benefits, apart the direct line or plan that you have undertaken, or you have thought it was the best".

There are a lot of stories of people who was not so materialistic by having in mind the only idea to be rich one day, but they did reach the same, only because they found happiness and passion in what they did.

Obliquity is a good way of thinking the existing decision and making theories.

As far as i could understand "Obliquity" tends to tell us that it is not only profit but even pleasure the key factors or products to achieve greater goals.

Thank You!

  1. Hi Shpendi,

I like you statement of "There exist different ways to achieve goals or benefits, apart the direct line or plan that you have undertaken, or you have thought it was the best", but let me also add that to take actions differently from the direct line is so difficult for the ones that are afraid to take risks.
Because to walk in different line needs courage, willpower and strong character.

    Thanks,
    Blerina

I also Like very much your statment "There exist different ways to achieve goals or benefits, apart the direct line or plan that you have undertaken, or you have thought it was the best".
Maybe is not a practise idea in these days but sometimes is these particular that makes the difference from the others.I'm sure that making something with passion never falls you just need to have corage enough to disscover your passion in donig want you really want.

If the reward is a function of effort, then it must be that making an "effort" is the goal of life. The truth is, we do enjoy that which we struggle to achieve. In fact, the greater we struggle, the more we enjoy the results of our efforts.

  4. To my mind, onething about obliquity is very important and worths to mention:some people use it unintentionally and when they get better results than those use direct method, it is seen as a surprise, unexpected result but,in fact it is a very normal result. In other words, most of the people think that direct method is the best one to achieve a target, not obliquity.
I think, obliqiuty explains very well the reasons behind success stories but,as many people still aren't aware of obliquity, they try to find other reasons behind those success stories and when they couldn't find soemthing concrete, they start to think that those successes are by chance, nothing else.

  5. Hi Shpendi,
I agree with your opinion, yes the richest men or women are not the most materialistic ones. There are many similar stories that tell that people do things just because they like to do them and then they find that it gives a lot of profit. And as we discussed in the classroom even the most profitable businesses are not the most profit oriented.
