How to change the world

This book influenced me a lot. Plenty of stories read or lived come to mind. I think when you help even one person of the world (help does not always mean money, it is more your care, love, your genuine belief in somebody you help, your devotion and sometimes courage that matters) it is the beginning of big change. In my opinion, small changes always lead us to greater ones if you don’t give up.
What can you do, for instance, if you are teacher? First, make your students believe they can change many things around if they try. Then show them your own example without teaching or forcing them. Three  years ago I suggested my students cleaning the territory around our school because at that time it was in terrible condition. I said that it is absolutely voluntary decision and will never change my attitude to them if they don’t come. To my great surprise nobody said or showed negative reaction and 90% of the girls came. We took necessary instruments and started working. Passersby were looking at us with interest but we didn’t care because our intention was clear. After great work we thanked each other and happily went home. After this activity my girls think twice whether to throw rubbish outside or not.
Let’s not wait when government or some people come and change something for us. Let’s think what we can do first.

  1. Hi Olga,

I think teachers have biggest power to change the world. In human behavior, your effect is really big and for some situations, for example recycle, the fastest and most effective way is to change our minds.

According to my observation, if we are forced by some rules or someone, we can change our behaviors but otherwise we do not change our habits but for children it is a bit different. If they learned how big problem it is and they are encouraged, they will get used to this correct behavior easily.

  2. People can learn the importance of change and they can change in every stage of their lives. To me it is better when they learn it at the early stages ( at school), so the grew up with it and develop their ideas and their beliefs in themselves more strongly.

  3. Dear Olga,

Thank you for thе inspiring example. The teachers are the most important persons together with parents in the life of children and their ideology directly influences on them and their future.

"Let’s think what we can do first."

I have done a first step to "What can you do, for instance". Today in our company HR was looking for volunteers to First Aid Training and, I volunteered: such experience always may be useful in case of emergency. You never know.

    Important is to start!

    Спасибо Оля!

  4. Hi Olga,

Great and practicably example. If we can define the book with small and understandable examples i think this would be the most appropriate one.

The change should be cultivated by giving your own examples. The more responsible a person is, the more due to change it is.

    Thank you!

  5. Hi Olga,

Thanks for the example and of course all the examples in order to be best understandable have to be from our own experience...and you explained one of them. Actually 6 summers ago I was working in a organizaton for the small children and I was teaching them computer and what I noticed was that without making them believe that they can do it you can not reach your target successfully.
