This is one of my preferred books as it speaks of facts, and we engineers do like facts. As we see all those graphs we are trying to make the connection between them, are these graphs related to history or are these graph because exterior factors have such as governments religion or etc have created them.
I will try to analyze these graphs and state my opinion related to the factors which are involved for spreading these numbers through world.
The first graph states the world population spiky. We all know that the borders were created after the First World War so there was free movement before that time. So I think the main factors which shows the world’s most populated zones were culture, geographical positions, fought wars in other words there were factors classified as Maslow`s pyramid of needs (such as basic needs, shelter, work, family, self esteem etc) who distributed the population of world in this graph. These years these factors are over passed through the policies some countries have toward migration. So we see new countries having a quick rise on population and even some other having reduction in their population.
The second graph is related to the light emission, which is the need for working places by creating some cities to work even through night time by lights. As we see the population distribution graph is very close to light emission graph because in the places where the population is high there is more need for work where you can provide this during night time too. But in order to provide these the countries must be also adaptable to this type of work culture.
The third graph is related to the patents, which actually is the protection of a country towards a brand or a production of his citizens. We see a high number of patents in countries like America and Japan where all the innovations in technology has come from. Patents are also related to the history of the countries and their do abilities in previous decades.
