The Flight of the Creative Class

There are some places in the world (such as America, England, Canada etc) that used to be, and are still for or a lot of people the ideal place where you could live or find the best job opportunities. The idea of the flight of the creative class has more to do with the social life and opportunities that a specific country offers. I think that for most of the people family comes first, and people are more interested in flying in a secure place that offers also career opportunities. One of the factors that America is loosing credits in this aspect is due to the insecure conditions that took place in the previous years; such as terrorism attacks and the Iraq war. Countries that offer freedom, equal human rights and secured social life tend to be the right places where people could live and this is what inspires and make people creative. It was freedom, equality, and the belief in the human capabilities (America gave mostly importance to these elements during the period of Roosevelt President) that harnessed creativity, new ideas and the development of technology.

All the above mentioned elements form the theory of 3 T’s’: Technology, Talent and Tolerance. Although they stand apart, they are equally important and they greatly influence each other. What is crucial to arrive in this level, is inspiration. As Dr. Florida explains in his book, the flight of the creative class is not about people leaving their own country; it is about America inability to harness the creative energy of its people.

Speaking of Albania, our nation has never achieved to harness the creative energy that Albanians have inside. Albanians still tend to immigrate, to work or study abroad, while, generally speaking the focus of Albanians that live in Albania is to work for foreign companies, as they usually have implemented foreign organizational structures (they have foreigner working environment, communication channels, career development, trainee programs, better salaries etc).
