FOLLOWERSHIP

‘You are governed as you deserve’. It shows the interaction/relation between the leader and followers. So, if the society changes, today or tomorrow leaders will have to change or a leader who presents the soul the society will come. Once some brave enough people mentioned Haccac the Cruel the perfect justice and management of Khalif Omer and asked him why he didn’t govern like him. That cruel man gave them a great answer and said ‘If you were like the society of his time, I would be like him’. Leaders don’t fall from stars, they appear among us. And the number of the followers doesn’t necessarily show the total quality of the leader. But the quality of the followers surely shows the quality of the leader. Imam-ı Azam had about 5000 students who were almost at the same level with him. And in 60% of his fatwas he followed his students ideas although he had different comments and views about them. To be considered as the leader by 5000 followers who are at the same level (it’s the highest level in religious law studies and now some scholars of our time say we don’t have even ten of them at the present) and to follow your followers ideas in 60% of your decisions are great measurements to judge a good leader. Yes, he was an azam (great) imam (leader).

  1. Hello
I agree with you that if the society changes, today or tomorrow leaders will have to change or a leader who presents the soul the society will come.
But sometimes the big changes reqiures a long time and these may some time tired the people and even make a confusion in their ideas of what they really want. These is why sometimes people make starnge choices in choosing their leaders.

  2. I think that virtually everyone is a follower at some point in his or her life. And perhaps more importantly, anyone occupying a position of authority plays a followership role at times, as first-line supervisors report to mid-level managers, mid-level managers report to vice-presidents, vice-presidents report to CEOs, CEOs report to Boards of Directors, etc. This being the case, followership should be viewed as a role, not a position. It is worth keeping in mind that some jobs have clear leadership requirements; virtually all jobs have followership requirements.

This is very nice a post. I totally agree with you.If we think for today his words are still eligible. Isn`t it? "The number of the followers doesn’t necessarily show the total quality of the leader. But the quality of the followers surely shows the quality of the leader"
