BOOK.10. OBLIQUITY- Why our goals achieved best indirectly.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... these last books have make me think a lot
Some shows The CHANGE meaning and this one tells us in what way to achieve this change.
I started to think about OBLIQUITY usage during one of my ordinary days and what I recognized was:

1- I do not go at work by car using the straight street ,because it seems shorter but the traffic jam is terrible,so I take a longer distanced street where the risk of traffic jam is lower and I go earlier at work.
2- At work ,when I don't know something I do not ask the others, but first I read information than compare it to the others gathering in this way more details regarding unknowned situations and issues.
3-We complain about work environment, but it's the moment to find the way how to feel motivated at work. This is the reason why in our office we have hours of music in order to maintain the happiness level and motivation we need to concentrate on work.

Like these are many other situations of obliquity that we face every moment.

Interesting is also the process of achieving the happiness through its 3 phases.
Considering my work I would express my experience in this way:
I have passed first 2 phases of happiness
1-Momentary fallings : an increased salary, a kindly office and expensive equipments and facilities
2-State of mind : I have improved my knowledge for a better job-position within the division (even if the improvement is a continous process)

Now I am waiting for the final phase To Fullfill my Potential which will be achieved when I feel that with my work I have influenced the melioration of the banking system in Albania, which is facing absurdities from one day to the other.

  1. Hi Ortenca,

I agree with your opinion, and I would add that often our choices are done as a result of some external factors. We do some actions thinking we are behaving rationally, and these are situations of obliquity.

  2. Hi Ortenca,

Regarding OBLIQUITY usage during our ordinary days, I would like to remember to us a Proverb of our Folk: If you pass throw the short road will take you longer than passing throw the longer one. OBLIQUITY is part of our Life.

  3. I think,in some cases, getting better results by using the indirect way is related by the nature of human beings. For example, there are two staff and they both the same sales target which seems difficult to reach. They apply different methods. One of them just thinks about reaching the target somehow, but the other tries to enjoy the things (to see new places,to meet with different people and to think about possible positive results of them ,to feel good after a small success)which he lives during working hours.Who will be more successful? Most probably the one who enjoys all the parts of the job and accepts them as funny things and opportunities for him.
