"HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD" (Social Entrepreneurship & the Power of New Ideas)

Hi everybody,

The core idea of the book is that it highlights that WE don’t have to be rich or powerful to alter the current reality. What is required is have a initiative to stand up with their ideas to make effective and dramatic changes to their communities. In the book it isn’t defined how we can change the world, as may be understood from the title, but through many stories it gives the courage to individuals who fight government, personal, financial and technological obstacles to benefit sets of people, communities in need.

In my opinion the very first thing that has to be changed before we can truly change the world for the better is: ourselves. Most people view the world live from a perspective of "I don't have enough to be happy, so I need more". Many of the richest still wake up every day thinking, "What can I do to get more for myself?". What they don't realize is that the key to happiness is not in having more, but in being happy with less.

Once you decide you are happy with what you already have, an entire new world will open up to you.

If whatever you do doesn't work, you must be flexible – you must change your action plan if the current one does not produce the required results. If you want other people to change, you must be prepared to make the first step yourself. If you cannot change your environment, you should change your attitude.

  3. I think the attitude of the people who have everything in huge amounts but still want to have more &more can be classified as a way of different life style which seems as abnormal for majority of people who don't have too much assets. But,if the others were in that position, they, most probably, would think and act as the rich do now.It requires empathy to understand the behaviours of the rich as it is necessary to understand every person or group in the society more correctly. There is a proverb in English which explains this case very well : "the more you have, the more you want".
for me, happiness is something else which isn't related with the amount of your money. For one person it means to earn more and more money while for another one to make some good things for the society, especially for the people in need.

  4. Hi Blerina,

I totally agree with your opinion.
Once you think to create something that brings benefits to you and the community you live, there you change your self and your pockets.
