Hello,
Firstly let me indicate that I was attracted by the title of the book. From the title we can get the impression that things can change, and even when the change is hard.
The main message if this book stands to the fact that we are Riders to the Elephant. Our brain (the rider) tempts to change the behavior but there is the emotional side (the elephant) that tries to manipulate the change. In order to overcome this situation there must be a path which can help the rider to manipulate the elephant, which means overcoming the problem without many efforts, even though in many circumstances Rider seems to have control but from the size of the Elephant the Ride often loses.
I find compelling the idea of understanding how people act the way they do, in business, community and with themselves, through the examples form researches and studies .
Regards,
Blerina
SWITCH uses practical insights for any part of life, from the individual level to communities, businesses, even governments. The principles are the same - we have a rational, logical side to our selves and an emotional side. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and both need to be turned to the same path in order to make any progress at all. Switch just outlines how to do that. The three principles are basic. First, give clear direction to the logical brain, then motivate the emotional brain, and finally clear the path for change by tweaking things so that the right behaviors are easier, and the wrong behaviors harder to follow.
ReplyDeleteThank you
I agree with you,
ReplyDeleteI believe that not always the elephant prevents the rider, we can help and manipulate the elephant to do the vice versa. There is nothing wrong and to be afraid of from the elephant. We have to make the elephant that we have in move in accordance with the rider (not expel it)and motivate the elephants of our subordinates.
