I guess everybody have seen the Albanian comic film (with Koço Devole) about a young man from a lost village who came at the capital. To him was promised a great palace with everything in it and he would had not the need to work but only with one condition, not to open one of the doors of the palace. The young man despite the fact he had everything, could not resist to the idea to see what was behind that door and opened it. Immediately after he passed the door, it was closed and was not opened anymore. The young man saw himself outside and poor again.
This story is a metaphoric expression of our irrational behavior. We all have sometimes reacted similarly or exactly like the guy of the above story. An internal stream of irrational way of judging and logic makes a continuous pressure on our conscious. No matter who we are and what we do, we will always be under the effect of this psychological sub-currents that is stronger than we may believe.
The famous expression: curiosity killed the cat fits so well into your post.
ReplyDeleteGreat explanation,

A very nice sample about the topic. The irresistible power of curiosity defeats the mind.

ReplyDeleteDear All,
ReplyDeleteAfrim, i liked very much your example, and i sometimes use one of the expressions in the film:
"-Trim, mos shko/ Brave man, don't go!"
"-Do shkoj, jam trim/ I will go, i am brave!".
This is the answer that he gave to the persons that were advising him not to go (is manifested the idea of obliquity). in addition, when we evaluate a project and look further at the desired goal, some of us often make illusions and this cause them make irrational decisions.
Regards,
what if the answer of ..."all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it, too?" is ... yes. Resoundingly yes. A "yes" that's possibly ingrained into our DNA.
