Rational people may perform irrational things. Human being is oriented to doing things not rational. Rational people are not always rational. Shopping is very important for women. They lose themselves when they are shopping. May be they have no need for clothes or shoes but however they buy them. It may be just a hobby but sometimes it transforms in a very bad thing. The women spent all the money, all their salaries buy doing shopping. Talking about the men, they like electronic things, they are fond of football. They can spent all their spare time by buying electronic equipments or watching football match. Regarding the examples the above we can clearly see that hobby cannot be always called positive. Spending a lot time with a hobby should be fobby.
Dear Nihal.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree with with that Spending a lot time with a hobby should be fobby. However its not good to become addicted..I totally agree with the other part.
Dear Nihal,
ReplyDeleteI think that performing irrational behaviors or attitudes is addressed to all people, not only the rational people. It is part of being human. We might face same decisions (made by different people) but i believe that the way how we perceive the situation and how we judge it are unique. There are the elements that we mentioned at the book Switch (Heart and Head) and the whole perceived situation that shape our decision making.

The example that impacted me mostly the one about the first impressions in which a class of college students were told they would have a substitute instructor for that day's lecture. Bios of the lecturer were handed out, and secretly there were two versions. One version referred to him as being considered "very warm," the other "rather cold." At the end of the class, the students completed a questionnaire about the lecturer, and, what do you know, members of the first group tended to find him to be "good natured, considerate of others, informal, sociable, popular, humorous, and humane," while members of the second group tended to find him "self-centered, formal, unsociable, unpopular, irritable, humorless, and ruthless."
