Immunity to change: How to overcome it and unlock the potential in yourself and your organization.
I would like to start with the conclusion of Robert Kegan & Lisa Laskow Lahey in their book, they say “no expiration date on your ability to grow… no matter how old you are”.
We have been graduated from the school, then university and now in our professional life we attend a lot of trainings, workshops, extension courses, etc. We get a lot information, read a lot of books, internet; we were taught from the school that we shall continuously get new knowledge and develop ourselves. We always try to learn as much as we can. I have at home a lot of books, e.g. “Learn Albanian”, does it mean I speak fluent Albanian? I still hope I will find better book and better time to learn it.
In my opinion, unfortunately we are overloaded by knowledge. More information doesn’t mean better. First of all, we have to learn how to operate by the knowledge we already have. It was scientifically proven that plenty of information leads to the difficulties of decision making in our daily and professional life. By our current age we suppose already to learn a lot of things so we just have to start to use and apply it in the right way, without overloading ourselves by unnecessary knowledge which maybe we will never able to use in our life.
B. Franklin said that man lives not by what he eats but what digests. This is equally true for the mind and body.
“New conceptual and practical means to unleash capabilities in yourself and your colleagues”
Sincerely,
Tatiana
Couldn't agree more. It seems that it's a life trend by almost everybody to get to know as many things possible...at the end quality is what matters not quantity.
ReplyDeleteRegards!
You are right in saying that we are overloaded with information but unfortunately this is the modern society. I believe that we are mostly affected by the incapacity to concentrate in one direction.
ReplyDeleteIts not in our nature
Ciao
Yes, I do agree with you that we are victims of our modern society. There are so many temptations nowadays. It is not in our nature but it is only in our hands how we filter the information we receive, "concentrate in one direction":
ReplyDeleteWe shall define first of all what for and which kind of information we need. Better to read one book and use it in our professional life than to read 5 books and have received knowledge preserved.
Thank you for sharing your opinions,
Tatiana
hello together,
ReplyDeleteunfortunately in our modern society the labor market is becoming more competitive each day where you to submit a plenty op papers in order to be competitive.
i also agree with Tatiana's saying "Better to read one book and use it in our professional life than to read 5 books and have received knowledge preserved."

Hi all,
ReplyDeleteI understand Tatiana perfectly about learning Albanian. Ability to Learn language seems to decrease by age. This is the biggest immunity to change that we experience. Surprisingly Albanians seem to have less difficulty in this regard, many of them have ability to learn different languages at older ages. I think this may be a interesting research topic.
Dear friends
ReplyDeleteI can't but agree with Tanya.Very nice quotations, very good understanding of quality education, I think.Do what you can do best in life and it will bring satisfaction to you and people around you.A person of many crafts is a master of none.
Hi Tania,
ReplyDeleteI think society force us to learn more thing about everything. We can not be professional on every stage so we should choose a stage and then we can have more deeply information about it. Sometimes we are trying to learn and understand every issues and then as a result usually there is no professional field of us.
After we choose some fields according to our business life, interests or hobbies, in that case there is no limit to learn. Our mind is bigger than we thought.

ReplyDeleteWhat Tatiana has perfectly explained, referring to the authors quote "no expiration date on your ability to grow… no matter how old you are”, in sociology is called Long- Life education. This means that there is no limitations regarding the time you acquire information, and you have to always be in touch with the new trends and concepts that this globalized society offers. Now day, sticking to the previous learned information means not changing (improving) yourself in the changing world.
