Immunity to Change: How to Overcome It and Unlock the Potential in Yourself and Your Organization

Hi everybody,

Most people fail in their attempt to permanently change their behavior despite their strong desire and commitment.

It is difficult for people in organizations to change, because the fear of shifting the power, need to learn new skills, or the fear to join in a new team. What has to be considered is to realize where do you need the changes, and then take actions. The hardest is to change our mindset as its made up from feelings. The authors are perceptive about the fundamental mismatch between how people attempt to change and what they really need to do, but changes are for people and it makes them stay open minded and flexible.

It demonstrates us how both individuals and organizations have specific desired and goals, how changes are needed to achieve the goal, and "hidden" but nonetheless significant elements that could delay, if not deny, achieving the desired goals.

  1. I share the same opinion with you Blerina about the change. According to me The immunity to change develops to people from the fear of refusal or effects of the change chosen. The fear is our main immunity. If this fear breaks then the desires of both individuals and organizations correlates and creates easier paths of success.

  2. I would like to add something regarding

"Stay open-minded and flexible". It's easy to get caught up in a rut at work, where we do the same things day-in and day-out, and feel uncomfortable at the thought of making changes. Making an effort to be flexible means that we will have an easier time adapting to our company's (inevitably) changing structures, and our open-mindedness will make others want to work with us.

"Be open to the improvements in our work environment" "They'll likely make our job more pleasant and we don't want to be left behind!"
