How to overcome it and unlock the potential in yourself and your organization
The core concept of this important book – that people and organizations want to change but often fail because they get in their own way – is simple and clear. Many of the stories of how individuals and groups have changed are inspiring. However, some are so attenuated that they fail to capture subtleties, such as exactly how the subjects identified and overcame the beliefs that blocked them.
The authors address a problem many people encounter daily, and their synthesizing discussion of learning theory provides a useful framework for thinking about change. They are perceptive about the fundamental mismatch between how people attempt to change and what they really need to do.
This book is recommended to managers and executives who must guide their organizations through transformations or crises, and to individuals who want to remain open-minded and flexible.
Such an example I have stated on the switch book, where local construction companies are struggling to change in the way they should operate in the market towards foreign investments.

Its very useful to books that helps you observe the daily creations and changes you may encounter in the everyday job...I think this should be done by every employee.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
There are lots of inspiring stories of changes but people like reading and telling them. However, they don't want to apply those changes to their organizations. The reason is that it is not for our organization or it's too difficult to do as they did. Courage is something we can't always find within ourselves.

I agree with you Florian and I think that the book is also very useful for our everyday life but we all are aware that sometimes changes comes throw a lot of effort...
ReplyDeleteJust as an example I want to remind you for the change of money from old to new money where we cut one zero. This process happened in 1986 if I am not wrong but interesting is that still in 2011 people confuse and talk about new and old money.
So, changes are complicated based also on the willing and desire to change.

Immunity To Change it’s a powerful tool to break through self-imposed change barriers. But changing this barriers on my opinion is a life transforming process that takes quite an effort
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteI have an idea, we may try to make the best synthesis of all the books which are around the idea od managing the change, if you agree then we may have an interesting project.
