A great power of Groundswell
Since the beginning of Internet era the main purpose of World Wide Web was to connect elements of information (publish, save, search data) and nowadays this purpose has been evolved mainly to connect people, to give them possibility to interact with each other by means of social networks, blogs, web communities, applications, etc.
Without World Wide Web I couldn’t be able to meet similar people, my country mates who are related somehow to Albania and Albanian topics. Firstly it became possible by use of one Balkan Forum some years ago which easily could be found through Google Search. Later on there were too many people flooding our communication so we could use Groundswell techniques and created closed Gmail Group. At that time and even now there is not too much information spread on internet about Albania so this group was the only place we could share our knowledge, opinions and life experience about Albanian culture and mentality, Albanian language, life in Albania, our problems and the way to solve them. By use of social networks we can meet and keep in touch with Russian community, living in Albania; organize meetings and events, etc.
Now I couldn’t communicate with my family, friends and ex-colleagues who are in Russia and other countries without different technologies like social networks, business oriented social networks, instant messaging and voice based applications, etc. I don’t move or travel any there or do not buy anything without checking a& evaluating information, reviews, opinions from the internet sources which are incredibly helpful as it is very confusing nowadays with varieties of choices.
Now, If you want you may “Get short, timely messages from Barack Obama.” Twitter suggests to “Join today and follow @BarackObama.”
Russian President got so impressed from visiting Silicon Valley that he opened his Twitter personal profile. In ten minutes this information was already published in Web news and for about 12 hours he had had more than 15 thousand followers. Even some more interesting facts: on his first tweet was a picture with a window view from his hotel which just for one night has been commented by 2 thousand users and viewed by 90 thousand people.
Mr. Medvedev is very active Twitter user (“Creator”), who does not only regular communicate with the ones who are following his blog but also can publish a parody of himself (e.g. in Russian language: http://bit.ly/9yeQSZ)
It shows that Web is not only involving the social activities but also became the main instrument of political activity, a great power of Groundswell!
By use of Blog Groundswell technique,
Tatiana
Dear Tanechka
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thank u for the yesterday presentation and thank u for the videos on the site u mentioned in your comment. You know it's one of my favorite Russian programmes and I enjoyed a lot, I even was about to cry.I am proud that we have not only smart but also witty and creative society. The most important thing that we lack is morality.I have never lost hope about our people.I believe in revival of a great country. My country.
hello together,
ReplyDeleteletting apart the nostalgic/ lyric part i totally agree that the new technologies has made a revolution in the communication and brought people together but is also correct to say the all these social networks have stolen our privacy!
today if you apply for job before they make the selection the search in the World Wide Web looking if there something wrong with before meeting and speaking in person with you.
