Followership: Do we use our followership power?

We have a lot of social problems in the world and unfortunately most of us do not do anything to change something. We have to think about what we are doing for other people or for us. Actually I can admit I do not do my part. The problem can be about your your city, country, work, people in certain age etc. also it can be global problem like recycle, hunger people etc. We have to ask ourselves what we are doing to change!
If you are alone, it is not possible to solve any problem for that reason people should move together to be able to change something better. If there is a problem about goverments, people should move together otherwise a few people cannot have enough power to change their ideas ar even to change goverment. Beeing together give power to reach the goals.
Sometimes I feel msyelf bad because I feel like I live just for myself. I do not show any effort for anyone else I don't know. There are a lot of local and international organizations and I do not any relation with them. One time I tried to join a organization "make a wish" and I was so excited to do something for anyone else, to make some benefits but I postponed to join the meetings due to my personal life.
I just live for myself and it makes me feel bad. When I saw homeless people on the street, when I watch a documentary about what we did to the world, when I realize some animals used for enjoyed people... even them I do not do anything and it makes me feel a sense of guilt... :(

  1. Dear Burcin,

I respect your thoughts but just feeling guilty doesn’t help the others and even yourself. We are most of times followers because there is a lack of innovative ideas. This is widely explained also in the book of "How to change the world" were it’s highlighted that what’s required is to have initiative in order to make effective changes. It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little.
Truly all of us find ourselves in the role of followers, and I think it is more a matter of choice.

  2. I agree with your opinions and feelings.Sometimes, the same things come to my mind, but also the balances in the World and the trends which are commonly accepted in the World and then I become aware of that the improvements that can be achieved to change the things in a better way are very limited and only in some fields. For example, climate change, destroy of natural resources, wars, general poverty & very bad living conditions in some countries. How can you stop or eliminate those big and main problems?in my opinion,it isn't in our hand as individuals even if we come together, but this doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to do anything to change something in a positive way.Something less or small always is better than nothing and oneday those limited positive changes may enable to change the big and main trends in the World if it isn't too late for the World.

  3. Dear Burcin,
I totally agree with you on “what we are doing for other people or for us” Nowadays life goes so fast, we are so busy and we do not find time to look even after ourselves. We share less time with our friends and I find it like impossible to find the time to join a social organization because life is so difficult and we work hard to effort it. I feel sometimes like isolates not even bystanders since we don’t know most people’s problems, do not find time to listen to them.
